KFBG spreads over 148 hectares of land on the northern slopes of Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong's highest mountain, near the town of Tai Po. It was established in 1956 to provide agricultural aid to farmers in need of support, to help them lead independent lives.
As times changed and farming declined in Hong Kong, the farm gave increasing attention to conservation education, environmental sustainability and the protection of biodiversity in the region.
KFBG now hosts a unique collection of indigenous, as well as exotic, flora and fauna. In recent years, it has also pioneered research on holistic and organic farming, and has superb semiwild woodland habitats.
The field trip includes guided visits of the beautiful botanic garden in the Lower Area of KFBG and an experiential activity with an Animal Keeper.
