The RGS-HK is pleased to offer a night safari tour to the Mai Po Marshes, a large wetland nature reserve managed by WWF, located in the North-west New Territories.  Mai Po is an internationally significant wetland, which is listed by the Ramsar Convention, and supports globally-important numbers of wetland birds, which chiefly arrive in winter and during the spring and autumn migrations. In the summer, it is an entirely different environment.

As the night falls, a whole new world emerges. The guides invite everyone to engage their senses to the fullest. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and scents of the wetlands, as nocturnal creatures emerge from their daytime hideouts.

Among the remarkable sightings, there's a chance to encounter the Mai Po firefly, a luminescent wonder named after this very sanctuary. Watch in awe as these delicate creatures light up the darkness with their mesmerizing glow. You'll also have the chance to encounter bats, frogs, snakes and even the rare Eurasian otter of the southern China region.
