The boat is going to embark from Pak Sha Wan Pier just south of Sai Kung Town and sail south east into Port Shelter. Through the South China Sea, the boat cruises around the picturesque islands of the Ung Kong Group, which includes Bluff Island, Wang Chau Island and Basalt Island. Parts of these islands are formed from densely arranged hexagonal volcanic rock columns which have resulted in magnificent coastal landforms.
Along the way are more impressive sites from sea arches to sea caves and from the boat we can take in Jin Island, most famous for the arch formation on the south side that resembles a goldfish. If the sea conditions permits, we’ll go as far as Long Ke Wan, where the beach has been referred to as one of the most beautiful in the world by CNN.
During the boat trip, Mr Dhillon introduces the geography of the surrounding areas and it will be a perfect afternoon to enjoy the autumn sun with a sumptuous professionally catered lunch.
Terry Dhillon is a geography teacher with over 10 years’ experience in the field. Terry read Geography at the University of Birmingham, UK, before pursuing a PGCE in Secondary Geography at the University of Cambridge. He has taught in schools the UK, Spain and now Hong Kong.
